Controversial opinion probably but I have a safe in my rv for valuables and such so that I never have to lock my front door while I leave my dog alone in the rv. If something happens like the rv catching fire I want someone to be able to get the dog out easily.

Stefbauer2:

Common sense – (and not being snarky)… if you’re uncomfortable- so are they.

Watch the temps, know your pet – are they anxious if you leave them etc… if you do leave them – remote temp monitoring is important – Govee or a digital thermostat… you don’t want a power outage or other failure while your out.

If your dog barks for 2 hours when you leave (don’t do that to the campers around you) – a little barking… sure whatever – but people that go out for 2 hours and the dog barks the whole time is cruel (to the people around you) as much as it is to the dog.

Everything_OnA_Bagel:

Be aware of the heat in the summer and don’t leave your pet in the camper too long unattended. If your ac isn’t turned on or if there is an issue with power and the ac shuts off, it could be deadly to your pet.

A friend left his dog in his camper and the dog somehow turned a stove knob open filling the camper with propane fumes. Luckily no one was hurt but it was hard to get the smell out afterwards.

I am in the wanna be weekly road tripper camp, (money in the bank for a Class B or Class C.)

I have thought that some type of web cam and a thermometer where I could keep track of what is going on inside the camper. Additionally, being a software nerd maybe setting up a system to send me a text message if the temperature exceeds some threshold.

chirs5757:

We bought little metal fence panels that connect to each other so you can make a little dog run. Makes camping so much nicer when you don’t have to constantly watch the dog and they can be off leash. Think I got them off Amazon.
