We are always on the lookout for ways to make our RV travel safer. Finding a way to manage our tire pressures became critical having experienced not one but two catastrophic tire blowouts that caused extensive damage to our previous 5th wheel. In this blog and attached video, we share the features and ease of installation of the TST 770 tire monitor to improve safety and tire longevity as we travel in our Montana 5th wheel.
Why use a TPMS for an RV?
RVs have unique tire pressure needs compared to passenger vehicles, and tire blowouts can be particularly dangerous for larger and heavier RVs. Equally important is the ability to monitor the tires for vehicles in tow by a Class A or C RV.
One of the most significant benefits of using a TPMS is to improve the safety of RV travel. Tire blowouts can be extremely dangerous for RVs, as they can cause extensive damage to the tow vehicle or create a situations that can cause a potential loss of control. With the TST 770 TPMS, we now have the ability to monitor our tire state in real-time and receive alerts if the pressure drops or the tire experience excessive high temperatures.
The TST 770 TPMS
The TST 770 TPMS is a wireless system that monitors an RV’s tire pressure and temperature in real-time. The TST 770 color monitor alarms in the event of low pressure, high pressure, rapid pressure loss, slow leaks, and high temperature giving time to get off the road before a possible blowout occurs.

Some of the key features of the TST 770 TPMS include:
- Wireless sensors that transmit data to the monitor in real-time
- Monitor 1 tow vehicle and up to 5 trailers
- Supports up to 46 tires
- Full color touch screen monitor auto-scrolls through each tire reporting PSI and temperature
- Customizable high and low pressure and temperature alerts
- Real-time direction of travel, altitude, and speed readings
- Easy installation
- Long battery life for the sensors
- Included signal repeater allows the TST 770 monitor to read sensor signals up to 105 feet away from the monitor
Installing the TST 770 TPMS and Tire Sensors
Our Montana 5th wheel came equipped with TST internal tire sensors that were installed from the factory. We have been monitoring the 5th wheel tires with the TST 507 monitor since purchase. Meeting with the TST factory representatives at the Florida RV SuperShow, they along with TechnoRV sent us the new TST 770 TMPS along with six cap style tire sensors for our F-350 dually.
This TST 770 has a large color display when compared to the the 507 with a number of added features. The TST 770 was a breeze to set up and took minutes to configure the cap sensors for the F-350 and the existing internal sensors on the 5th wheel. The cap style sensors were easy to screw on our F-350 valve stems completing the installation.
The TST 770 monitor comes with a window suction cup and magnetic attachment. The monitor can be used with this mount or any standard magnetic dash display mount.
Results Using the TST 770 TPMS
The TST 770 TPMS gives us the peace of mind as we tow our 5th wheel. We now have the ability to observe real-time tire pressure and temperature data with customizable alerts, and the ability to monitor both the 5th wheel and truck tires. The TST 770 TPMS and it’s easy to ready display will alert us of any tire issues that occur before they become major problems.
