Hey everyone,
We’re overwhelmed by the response. Thanks so much for all the suggestions and offers of hospitality. We’ve made a lot of updates to our route, and while some dates/locations are fixed due to bookings, here are the biggest changes:
-Taking buses/trains up until Washington DC, where we’ll pick up the RV.
-Skipping Memphis.
-Skipping San Antonio and driving through Texas quicker.
-Spending more time in the Rocky Mountains.
-Adding stops to explore Moab and the Grand Canyon.
-Possibly skipping Los Angeles.
Overall, we are giving ourselves more time to be flexible and, of course, smell the roses.
We just got the RV in DC and next stop is Tennessee. We’ll take many pictures and share our route after the trip, which might be useful for anyone else planning a similar journey.
We should be in Santa Barbara for the 4th of July, so say hello if you see us (you won’t miss us!).
Once again, your generous offers of hospitality along the entire route have truly amazed us. We’re more excited than ever for each stop on this trip.
Have fun boys, it will be a blast.
Glad you didn’t cut out New Orleans. Have fun boys.
You are, perhaps wisely, avoiding my area. 🙂
Have fun, and enjoy yourselves! This is one heck of an adventure!!!
While I would normally would not suggest using an RV to drive it – you might want to drive for a bit on the Skyline drive / Blue Ridge Parkway. While it’s slow going and takes forever… OMG the scenery. Be careful of the height of your RV and the tunnel heights, there are a few well marked low spots, but your RV might be low enough not to worry about.
Now this is a post that guarantees a huge smile. Our Irish people having fun! ???????? So nice seeing everyone happy and visiting new places! If you can pull it off next round, we hope to see you in the SoFlo and Florida Keys area sometime. It’s pretty hot down here right now, but our “winter” season is comfortable. Lots to see and do, especially if your crew enjoys watersports. Thanks for sharing the adventure! Safe travels, lads!
Missing out by not doing Yellowstone……jussayin guys.
Maybe think about purchasing this at the first National Park, it you plan to visit at least three. https://store.usgs.gov/2024-annual-pass
