We have a Quadra Bigfoot auto leveling system. I checked inside with a level and we are definitely level. If having the tires off the ground is bad, any suggestions on a fix are appreciated.
Front tires off the ground isn’t ideal, but rear tires off the ground is an absolute NO. Your parking brake is typically on the driveshaft, if one rear tire is lifted, they both turn freely and could result in rolling off the blocks.
If the site is unlevel to this point, you should be driving the low side wheels onto leveling blocks to get you close. Then the auto leveling system is doing just its intended job, of leveling and stabilizing your unit.
Lifting the wheels off the ground, although possible, is likely to land you with damaged jacks or frame from side loads. I’ve seen it.
Put the leveling blocks under that tire and try again.
One problem I’ve seen with it is sometimes it makes the jacks shift over at an awkward angle if the rv itself shifts to the side when the wheels come off the ground. It doesn’t look too bad here but I would support the wheels so that the rv is staying in place due to the tire contact and then the jacks are supporting it. You can raise the front extra, put some blocks under there, then lower it down again.
I think something that people forget is that you’re supposed to get the rv mostly level with blocks and then use the auto leveler to get it perfect.
Thanks for all the help! I put leveling blocks under the front two tires and re-leveled. Front right still lifted a touch off of the leveling block. Front left is sitting solid on its block.
When this happens for me, I manually raise the wheels that are off the ground slightly higher and slide levelling blocks or wood under the raised tires, then lower them back down again manually until they are resting on said blocks without fully retracting the jacks. This adds more contact points for more stability. FWIW, I carry a 30″ carpenters level and almost always level manually.
