The San Juan Forest in CO is closed because of extreme fire danger. Be sure to check ahead if you plan to camp in a national forest. All or part of many in the Southwest have closures for the same reason. It will be disappointing to say the least if you drive a distance only to find you can’t camp there. In AZ, violators have received fines of $5000, $10,000 for groups.
