The End To Facebook For Us
This has been something we’ve considered for some time – the end to Facebook for us. We have reached the point where we’ve very concerned about the lack of security that exists in the Facebook social media platform and how it can impact Joan and I, our family, and equally important, all of our iLoveRVlife followers.
To our knowledge, Joan nor I have been hacked (YET!) or had our contact used in a negative way that we can identify. But, we receive notifications from our followers where their account has been hacked as well as receiving virus and malware links via Facebook. Daily we get requests from very undesirable parties to be a “friend”. It’s obvious these requesting parties have no intent to be a part of our RV community and want nothing more than to access our friends list to use in ways that we fear could cause a negative impact. More is shared from the video below.
So we have deleted all of our post, pictures and responses from the Jerry Lovesrvlife Facebook page. Joan has done the same for her personal account. We have deleted the accounts, but it takes Facebook 30 days to delete. Another reason we believe this platform does all it can to manage the user versus giving the user all the tools needed to properly and safely manage the platform.
DO NOT ACCEPT ANY FRIEND REQUESTS FROM “JERRY LOVESRVLIFE” GOING FORWARD. WHOEVER IS GENERATING THE REQUEST IS A SCAM! WE HAVE LEFT FACEBOOK AND WILL NOT REACTIVE ANY ACCOUNT IN THE FUTURE.
iLoveRVlife is not going away, We will continue to post our RV travels, tips, and product reviews on YouTube. The YouTube platform is much different and I have a wider range of tools to manage content and users to limit bad actors and protect our content. Plus YouTube is more for entertainment and less on the social interaction limiting access to our viewer’s accounts. We will also continue to maintain this website and our iLoveRVlife newsletter.
To all of our Facebook friends and family (an there are thousands), we will miss the interaction and bond we’ve created. We will continue to support an active comment community on YouTube and our contact page on this website is always open for help or just a hello.
Safe travels my friends….Jerry
