Oderdigg: For such a small trailer, I don’t think you need a weight distribution hitch bit I could be wrong.
wintercast: I would suggest going to a local RV reapair place. If you are in maryland i recomend Jim Donnies.
They can sell and install the hitch and get it set correctly and show you how to use it.
My own 2 cents. A wd hitch might not be needed but a sway bar might be nice. My favorite item is the camera on the back and my extended mirrors
Mindeffex: I have an Anderson Weight Distribution Hitch. Although a tad on the expensive side, there’s damn near zero noise, or sway. The adjustability is easy with a simple socket. Just crank the two bolts down to put tension on the chain and stop when you’re level. It fits a huge variety of trailer weights and you don’t have worry about swapping torsion bars down the road if need be.
F0M0C0: I need some help choosing the correct weight distribution hitch for my application. The picture above shows the specs of my tow vehicle, a 2015 Ford Explorer.
My camper is a StarCraft AR One 16BH and the specs are
Dry Weight
2,530 lbs.
Payload Capacity
670 lbs.
GVWR
3,200 lbs.
Hitch Weight
325 lbs.
I read that you don’t want a weight distribution hitch that’s too soft or too stiff but all of the hitches I have found are rated for 1,000 lbs.
Am I looking for one rated for 500 lbs based on the specs above?
This one has a tongue weight range of 400-600

Any help is appreciated.
fyrman8810: Your hitch is rated for weight carrying, not weight distributing. A weight distributing hitch is not necessary, and may actually cause issues rather than solve them. A sway control device (if needed) and air bags (if needed) will be more than enough for what you are doing.
Farmerdrew: Call up etrailer.com. Seriously. They know their stuff.

I pull a heavy 16.5’ Carson toy hauler with my F150 v8 and this WDH system. Watch a few YouTube videos about how to properly level your rig. It’s very important that you are level.
