I have a 184BHS, we flipped the axle and added a second 20lb propane tank so got most of the Baja add ins with the benefit of having a dinette slide – we looked at this model and it felt too tight inside for us.

People definitely dog on Jayco quality but personally (knocks on wood everywhere) we’ve had a really solid unit. Any maintenance needs to date have either been by choice, or due to our own abuse.

Pass.

My first pop was a Jayco. Meh. Second was a KZ 196bh like this one $10k with a slide. Best of my 3.

This is lacking baggage doors. Kitchen is poorly laid out. Lacking windows. It’s lifted and no sight of steps, so I hope they fold up inside the door.

Good luck, maybe wait for a rv snow/ convention and see other brands.

I’m packing for the weekend as we chat. Welcome to the club!!!

First thing to consider is that if you buy a camper, you will likely end up buying several more over the course of your life, it’s an addiction. Second thing is to do a deep dive into trailer weights and towing capacity. If you’re on the upside with a decent truck, it won’t matter but if you have a small SUV, you can have some challenges.

Keep in mind, even though you’re buying something brand new, there will be factory defects. It has always been this way and you will be a lottery winner if you have no issues. The inside joke is to buy something two years old, somebody else fought the battles for you.

If you buy new, pay your dealer for all of the first year stuff and be present to see how it is done. Winterizing, the plumbing is a major event as is seasonal inspection of seals. Water leaks is a common killer of RVs.

Take a look across the web at Jayco, StarCraft, KZ, Lance, A-liner, Thor, the list goes on and on. RV trader could also be a wider net to see what options are out there.

Be very careful!

I had the misfortune of reaching out to deals like this, too good to be true…

Turns out they are scammers, and they will try to send you a “code” to validate, but it’s actually your MFA code for Facebook, they try to hijack your account.

Be very careful and don’t tell anyone anything or click any links!!!

I have a precovid Jayco and really like it. It is a better build quality than Keystones I have had.

One thing to think about with smaller trailers is storage space. Where are you putting your BBQ, stove, and camp chairs in that RV? We got a new RV when the kids left for school, but got 19 because it has real storage.

Call the dealer directly to avoid scammers.
