I’ve been trying to figure this out for the past few days. Everyone I’ve asked says something different. Do I need a 3500 dually or will a SRW be fine? Going ford f350. Camper is a 2021 Keystone Raptor Toy Hauler 413. Price isn’t really much different there’s just a ton more of the SRW available around me.
You’ll need either a dually or a really really well equipped SRW with max payload packages and the like.
You’ll probably be happier with a dually though.
Your hitch weigh dry is 3300lbs. Add the weight of everything you will put in the vehicle, plus people, and the hitch it’s self, and you’ll be needing well over 4000lbs payload capacity before you even put anything into the trailer.
There’s probably some SRW models that would take care of it, but you have to check the sticker in the door jam of the specific truck.
43 feet long. 15,000 pounds dry. 3,300 pounds dry pin weight.
Fuck yea you need a dually. Don’t even think about towing that with a single.
The trailer GVRW is 19k. As mentioned earlier, that puts your pin weight close to 4k. Add passengers, the hitch, and fuel, and you will need around 5k in payload capacity in the truck. That should put you in DRW territory.
I was ready to say it’s not necessary, but then I saw what a MASSIVE trailer you’re getting…
I went straight to an MDT and never worry. Go big, don’t stress.
Depends where you live.
If it’s often super windy or you plan on pulling it through the mountains, I’d recommend a dually. I have a toy hauler that’s about 15 fully loaded, and a ram dually. It’s a dream to tow. 80km/hr winds don’t even phase the truck, it’s so planted that it’s just care free. No butt clenching in the mountain passes when a wind comes whipping through a corner.
Honestly, there are only three downsides to a dually. Tire cost, empty fuel cost, and empty parking. If those three things are unimportant to you, the dually will be better than the srw.
