How can I connect my 30 amp RV to this generator outlet? My RV has a standard 30 amp male end on the cord.
This is an input plug. It’s meant to plug a generator into the home when grid power is unavailable. This likely goes straight to the circuit breaker panel of the home.
You can’t power your RV/travel trailer from this.
That’s an input plug. Attaching another input plug to it isn’t likely to be useful.
That would appear to be where you would plug in a generator to power a house. Not the other way around.
This at least implies that the most expensive part of the RV outlet is ran for you. The wiring. The gauge of the wiring should be rated for at least 30amp. My suggestion would be to call an electrician and ask him to change the outlet on the outside to an RV outlet and to rewire the breaker box so this wire is on its own powered 30amp circuit, if you have room in your box.
As long as you don’t need a generator to power your house…
Technically, you could make this work but it would require buying a few cords, cutting them, and splicing them together.
I would not trust the average person to do this safely.
I would instead, suggest removing this box off the wall and buying an 30A RV box from Home Depot or Lowe’s. You could use the same wires, just replace the box
Also, generators generally have the lockout. You would have to remove the 30A breaker lockout from the main panel so that could be powered on at the same time as the main breaker.
Change the plug to the one you need, it should already have 30amp wiring in place
Stop! Call an electrician and make sure you aren’t getting ready to plug your RV into a 220v power source. 30 amp rv plugs are 110 volts while most generator inputs are 220v. You could fry your inverter. Not to mention that If that’s a plug to back feed a generator into a home and there’s no lockout on the main, you could have 220 volt terminals energized on the outside of your home and easy for a child to touch if you forgot to turn off the breaker. Super dangerous in my opinion.
