2020 Salem Hemisphere 26BHHL – Has anyone had the bottom flange of the I-beam tear out? The welds of hangers to flange are intact and seem ok. I can’t find any signs of stress in the web or the top flange. But judging from the rust on the exposed areas this has been separated for a while before it finally tore. Looking at the other hangers I can see rust/cracks forming. Would tractor trailer repair facility be the best option? Or would you try and make an insurance claim and let them figure it out?

Common-University-59:

The photo looks exactly like mine. I contacted lippert since they made the frame and they covered repairs. They need t drill the ends of the cracks to stop them from spreading then grind the cracks out and weld them. The part that broke completely will need to be cleaned welded and then they welded a reinforcement plate over the area. I have a 2021 Grand design 2910bh.

Big_Blue_Smurf:

I had an issue with an aluminum travel trailer frame and ended up going to a local welding shop that did a lot of work on utility trailers and goosenecks.

To have a few cracks welded and patches welded over a couple of areas was a couple $hundred. So it wouldn’t have paid to run that through my insurance.
