Loraura:

Slides are worth a lot to me personally. It opens up the space so much more. Coming from a 5th wheel you will already have a lot less headroom. It’s going to feel small in any TT. Slides may help mitigate that cramped feeling. With plenty of truck why wouldn’t you go with slides?

LivyZoeNickV:

So we sold the 5th wheel but kept the 350. We full timed in it for 6 months and had a blast. Now we are settled into a house for at least the next 4 years and we are looking for a weekend toy to take to the beach and boondock. I can pretty much pull anything with 2 axles but we are trying to stay with a smaller bunkhouse. The only real difference I see between the 20 and 19 BH is the slide. Is it worth the extra space? On the used market I am seeing about a 3/4k difference.

meowlater:

Are you just sleeping two most of the time? Are you small people? The 20bhs has a dinette that is deeper and gives you a slightly wider hallway when the slide is out. If for some reason the slide isn’t out then it would be very uncomfortable/untenable.

The 19bh has a smaller dinette that looks adequate for two adults and two little kids, or four small adults on occasion, takes up a little bit of hallway space, but would not be in the way with the slide in.

If you are trying camp with more than 2 regularly then I would get the slide, but especially if you aren’t big people, and don’t usually have more than 2-4 you may be happy without the hassle.

I know a lot of people worry about the hassle/risk of slides, but in general the risk really comes in when you don’t take care of slide problems. Slides can be adjusted, motors can be replaced, etc. It might run as high as 1k-2k for a broken motor gearbox situation, but the real damage is only done if water is let in through a broken slide area that is not sealing. Do your maintenance and take care of problems pronto and slides even on a bad day shouldn’t ruin your RV. (This is obviously excluding the possibility of lemons where the slide was misbuilt.)

Guyver_3:

Oh hell yeah. Have a 20BHS and the slide is so much more space.

DramaticSandwich:

Just purchased a G20bhs this year. The slide is worth it 110%.

JDubNutz:

In hindsight the extra space inside would have been nice.

Troutman86:

Our 1st RV (family of 4) was a 26’ class C with no slides. I loved it because it was small and minimalist. But it was not practical for four people, get the slide…
