So, I have a 1999 Fleetwood, and at the entry steps is this random D ring bolted onto the stairs, into the battery area.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why it’s there. It isn’t connected to any electrical. It doesn’t appear to hold anything up. It’s just… there. There is no reference in the manual about it. Think I can remove it?

NotBatman81:

That’s “custom.”

xrandx:

Technically that’s a u bolt not a d ring, but that’ s not to say it’s intended purpose wasn’t as you say. No idea.

bumblemooose:

Are your entry steps manual or automatic? If they are automatic, the motor may have gone bad and a previous owner disconnected the linkage then used the D-ring to attach a tie-down to hold the steps up.

My motor went bad during a trip so I disconnected the linkage and tied the steps up using the interior grab handle.

That’s my thought on it.
