Looking at this used 2002 Coachmen Freedom tomorrow to potentially live in full time and I just noticed that the brand is spelled “CoachmAn” rather than “coachmEn”. I also noticed that the decorative markings on the van are different from other 2002 freedoms online as well. Why would this be? Should I be concerned?
Because there is only 1 of them.
It’s the Temu/Wish variant.
Super weird. My money is on it being a real Coachmen but cheap replacement decals were used. I believe there should be a documentation paper glued to the inside of one of the cabinets with manufacturing information. My 2000 Coachmen has this.
From what I can research, “Coachman” is a line of motorhomes in the U.K. market.
Not much info past that. ????????♂️
The placement of the external features seems right, like the split window, the offset light over the window, the outlet cover, the basement doors and latches, refrigerator and furnace vent covers, etc. If it actually is an original Coachmen then somebody stripped off the original decals and replaced them with cheap knockoffs. That’s obviously not how “Coachmen” is spelled, the font is wrong, it should not be all upper case, and the Dalmatian is missing from the logo.
It’s a Chinese knock off
As others have said, a previous owner likely stripped and replaced the graphics, as the 24 year old vinyl would look pretty bad by now. Most likely they ordered them on ebay or some other site for cheap, and didn’t notice the misspelling.
The link below shows what the originals looked like, and the condition that they would be in currently (faded, cracked, and likely peeling).
