First time RV owner and bought a brand new camper. It makes an eerie squeaky noise when turning.

What is it? Is it the camper axle or tow pintle?

Should I be concerned? I’ve owned boats and trailers and never heard this before.

As everyone else mentioned it’s the bars doing their thing. Do not grease by the L bracket. But you should grease your hitch ball and I put a little on the circled area to help them swing better. I use white lithium grease. Also check all nuts before each trip.

Koar1776:

The manufacturer states explicitly not to grease the contact point. It defeats the whole purpose of the sway control.

Here a pic of the hitch setup

Sounds like the weight distribution bars. I use hitch grease in the hitch-side receptacles for the bar and got a “sway bracket jacket” off Amazon.

Edit: you have a slightly different hitch. I put hitch grease in the pivot point for the WD bars.

These pads help a lot with noise… And that hitch is a talker!

bananaphoneMan:

have same hitch. the tension is causing that sound, and the bars are working as expected, since it uses tension for sway control.

they sell pads to help damnpen the noise, but that takes away from the metal on metal contact which is what helps the sway.

I also use hitch grease on the hitch side, which helps.

Normal. No worries.
