Took out the rv for first camping trip of season – 3 weeks after we picked up the new unit from the dealer on 5/3/24. First night it rained heavily and we noticed water collecting behind one of the panels and a puddle forming on the bed next to said wall.

Dealer is offering to repair the damage and do whatever is necessary. My feeling is that we should receive a new rv altogether. Am I being unreasonable?

Exact_Yogurtcloset26:

The “repair” is likely slinging caulk all over seams. Keep documentation of this and contact the manufacturer directly about appropriate warranty repair methods. Take TONS of photos and retain all communication records.

Leaking one time not a big deal, but definitely see it fixed.

YesIReallyAmYourGod:

I hate to say it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you have even more unknown issues.

the_real_some_guy:

From the people I’ve talked to with similar stories, you aren’t getting a new RV without a lawyer and a few years of your life. Even then it’s questionable.

It’s best to accept that RVs are crap that need constant repairs. You’ll be happier once you accept that.

Phrakman87:

I mean before you can lemon law it, if indeed you have that in your state, you have to give the dealer an opportunity to fix it usually.

I get that it’s frustrating.

IMHO_grim:

Having seen the way they caulk the roofs and horizontal seams, I would say it was just a Friday caulk job at the factory on your specific unit.

I would want to look on top to see the potential leak point gap and then have that filled with some dicor leveling sealant. That should fix it and stop that problem (assuming without seeing the unit itself).

Get some Damprid and keep it in the area and monitor for any mold or other issues.

KCB5:

Yes you’re being unreasonable. Caulk fixes this.

Verix19:

It’s going to be where the front cap rails meet the roofline.

Get up there and inspect ASAP ????
