The tubing circled in blue has been leaking water when my water is on. Is this bad? I don't remember that tubing being quite like that(or without a valve) prior to winterizing. Any help/advice is appreciated. Thanks
That looks like your tank overflow hose.
I would investigate the fresh water holding tank to see if it is full. If it is filling with water when you are hooked up to city water, generally that is a valve stuck on the water pump causing it.
Tank overflow or fridge condensation outlet.
As people have mentioned already, the blue circled tube is 100% your overflow drain. Having your water on inside and water coming out of this could indicate a value issue somewhere that is putting water into your tank when it shouldn’t be. Double-check your city water/book docking values. Additionally, if you use a water pump and pulling from the tank, and it’s leaking, could also be too full and is creating a vacuum and causing a siphon effect.
I never recommend to completely fill your tank. Record how long it takes to fill your tank and for this to start leaking, then empty the tank, and set a timer where you stop the water 1–2 minutes before it will overflow. A normal home hose fills at about 1.5-2.5 gallon a minute if you’re using a pressure regulator.
Looks like you’re missing a valve for your low point drain. Most RVs are 1/2” pex. You will need a 1/2” pex-b ball valve , crimp ring, and a crimping tool. Make sure you get the plastic ball valve and not the brass. Brass expands and contracts differently with temperature than the plastic to its more prone to leaks with temperature changes.
pex-a won’t fit because it’s sized differently than pex-b.
You can also get a 1/2” sharkbite ball valve but they tend to be more prone to leaking in my experience. I don’t use them any more but in a pinch it will serve its purpose until you can properly fix it.
Looks like a low point drain that broke, if it were me I’d cut it so it’s straight and put a new little valve on it and check the other one too just to save myself another broken one a week later
I had my fresh tank fill and overflow while hooked up to city water. Turned out to be the internal valve in the water pump itself. First make sure your water pressure is not excessive. I try to limit to no more than 45psi. The RV mfr probably recommends 30psi. If PSI is good another cause might be hard water, it could be mineral deposits on the rubber valve so a flush with vinegar might help. Otherwise those valves can wear out over time and need replacement. A lot of rv pumps have rebuild kit options available.- You can add an external check valve or even a shutoff valve if you want to block city water from backfeeding into the tank through the pump while you are on city water.
Anyway, probably worst case scenario is your water pump could be failing and require replacement at some point. I’ve gone through so many of them I am almost ready to buy that $1000 model they install on the prevosts lol
I know I had this similar issue and thought something broke and water was pouring out of this. I had my low point valve open. I closed it and problem solved. Sounds like others have already mentioned what this is, I just wanted to shared my “horror story” and glad nothing was broken.
