Inspect your receiver hitch regularly. This could’ve ended in disaster.

SwvellyBents:

Jeeze, I take mine off as soon as we unhook the trailer at the campsite or back home.

Who needs more festering ankle sores?

Problem solved

justalurker007:

That looks like an old one of mine that was rusted in place for about a decade. Great PSA!!!

NotBatman81:

Don’t leave the hitch in the receiver permanently to haul your invisible trailer. Also consider investing in aluminum.

SuperBottit:

I take mine out as they tend to walk off here. Plus I got different ball sizes on different ones

robertbuzbyjr:

Mine are stored in a water tight box untill needed, and everything gets a touch up coat of Rust-Oleum as needed. Cheap long term investment.

TravelingFuhzz:

Recently while traveling through California I spotted a heavy duty triple ball hitch laying on the interstate between two lanes. The car behind me didn’t see it and changed lanes right into it. They hit it with their front driver side tire and about lost control, but were able to get off the road without impacting any other vehicles.

So make sure the pin is secure as well!
